After doctors suspected a drug overdose, a team supervised by Singh is also probing who gave her the drugs. Singh said Indrani has been taking medicines since September 12, as she was “suffering from insomnia, depression and anxiety”.

But Indrani’s lawyer Gunjan Mangla, in an application to the CBI court on Saturday, said, “A lawyer met her on September 24. That day, she did not tell us about any medicine being prescribed to her.” The police have already recorded statements of inmates, doctors and the nurses who delivered the medicines.
