A day after the H-West federation, an umbrella citizens’ group that represents Bandra, Khar and Santacruz (west) backed Vasant Dhoble for conducting raids and checks on pubs, bars and restaurants, on Friday, it demanded that officials inspect all such establishments in their area.

“We have charted out a plan to go and visit the police, ward offices and the traffic police to appeal to them to inspect if these places have the relevant 27 licences and if they are following the conditions laid down while giving permissions,” said Anandini Thakoor, chairperson of the federation.
The federation said it has received overwhelming response from resident groups in Juhu, Vile Parle and Sion, which face similar problems.
Delegations of residents will start with going to local police stations and ward offices and ultimately approach Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan, if no permanent solution is in sight to resolve the issue. Residents of these areas, which have a large number of bars, pubs, lounges and restaurants, complain that these establishments are a social nuisance and affect the law and order situation by flouting rules.
The federation wants all such establishments to be moved out from residential neighbourhoods to separate entertainment zones, which can be located in a business district, which is deserted after work hours.
