Chabad House, also known as Nariman House, was one of the three spots that the terrorists attacked during the Mumbai terror strike which left more than 160 dead and 300 injured.

But sources in the crime branch said although this is a significant development, it would not mean anything until Jundal’s voice matches the voices that central intelligence agencies had intercepted at Nariman House during the attack.

“The pitch and the modulation of the sample will be matched with the original sample, which was intercepted by the central agencies. If the voice samples match, it would become key evidence in court,” said an official.

Central agencies had intercepted two calls during the carnage at Nariman House. The agencies and the crime branch were already suspicious of the presence of an Indian in the control room in Karachi as a few Hindi words were used during the conversation.

There were reports that the voice sample would be sent to the laboratory at Chandigarh. However, the crime branch has clarified that they would match the voice samples at the state laboratory.

So far, during interrogations, Jundal has revealed that he was the only Indian in the control room in Karachi along with other operatives of the Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT). He has also told the police that it was a fidayeen (militant group) attack and the 10 terrorists were sent to Mumbai with an aim to kill as many as possible and cause maximum damage. Jundal claimed he was involved in training the 10 terrorists since August 2008, and he also taught them Hindi before the attack.
