Two days after HT reported how a 32-year-old was turned away by the police control room and the Bandra police when he approached them with complaints of a senior citizen being assaulted, an inquiry was conducted and disciplinary action was ordered against the policewoman who answered his call.

The Bandra police also ordered a probe into the assault on Thursday, and recorded complainant Vidyut Lokur’s statement.
Lokur, a Bandra resident, saw a senior citizen being assaulted in a car ahead of his at JVLR on April 29. When he alerted the control room, a policewoman told him to call traffic cops. He then went to the Bandra police, who told him to write them an email.
“The policewoman was found guilty and will face action,” said deputy commissioner of police (operations), Keshav Patil, who ordered the inquiry.
The Bandra police asked Lokur to identify the cops who did not help him. “I couldn’t identify them. I’m not sure they were present,” Lokur said.
