After hearing special public prosecutor Ujjwal Nikam, the division bench of Justice Ranjana Desai and Justice Ranjit More sought the post mortem report and spot panchnama of the three slain police officers — Hemant Karkare, Ashok Kamte and Vijay Salaskar.

“It is a miracle,” remarked the bench as Nikam read out Jadhav’s statement, revealing how he luckily survived the brutal attack.

Nikam also read out portions pertaining to the encounter from a confession given by convicted terrorist — Mohammad Ajmal Amir Kasab — in order to substantiate the prosecution case.

Meanwhile, Kasab appeared on the webcam for a brief period on Thursday, and watched the proceedings.

He smiled and yawned as Nikam was advancing his arguments in support of the capital punishment awarded to the terrorist. On Wednesday, Kasab had spit at a webcam, demanding to be physically present in the court.

The police later intercepted the duo at Girgaum Chowpatty, where Abu Ismail was killed in an encounter while Kasab was captured alive.
