Uddhav said Sena’s criticism should be taken constructively, as it was not sitting in the Opposition and the two parties are part of the ruling alliance.

“We are responsible for the promises made to the people and should be working towards fulfilling them. We should make all decisions together. Even in the BMC (Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation), our corporators should be kept in the loop,” said Uddhav, taunting the BJP for keeping the Sena in the dark while announcing the project to put up LED lights along Marine Drive.

Uddhav was speaking on the occasion of the induction of Mahendra Thorve, Peasants and Workers Party (PWP) leader from Karjat taluka in Ragiad district into the Sena fold on Sunday.

The Marine Drive incident had even led to a virtual spat, on Twitter, between Yuva Sena chief Aaditya Thackeray and Mumbai BJP chief Ashish Shelar, who had made the announcement on the BMC premises without consulting the Sena. Aaditya had questioned the authenticity of the tender awarded without competition. He criticised about the white LED lights to be installed at the iconic Queen’s Necklace, which traditionally had yellow lights.

After this, education minister Vinod Tawde and BJP vice president Vinay Sahasrabuddhe had asked the Sena to stop communicating through the Saamana.

On Sunday, environment minister and Sena leader Ramdas Kadam also announced that the Sena will conduct an independent survey on whether the aid given by the Central government to the farmers in the state hit by natural calamities, had actually reached them.
