During a search at the Oshiwara flat of starlet Laila Khan, who is feared to have been murdered along with five of her family members, the crime branch stumbled upon three of the family’s savings accounts in various banks from which Rs 25 lakh worth of transactions (withdrawals) had been made last year.

Crime branch sources said a team from Unit 8 had searched Laila’s flat at Sunrise building at Oshiwara till late Monday night.
The team had taken suspected killer Parvez Tak along, and he led them to a bedroom cupboard where the three passbooks were kept along with many documents, including that of a bank locker. Sources said all accounts were jointly held by Laila and Celina.
Joint commissioner of police, crime, Himanshu Roy said the police were trying to verify where the family spent so much money. ‘But one thing is for sure: Tak knew about the family’s finances as he knew where the passbooks were kept,” Roy said.
Sources said it is suspected that Tak, because of his knowledge of the family’s financial details could have been misusing them with bogus documents. “It could be a possible reason for the fights in the family,” sources said.
