“Her real name is Ujjwala Sawant and she was living in Chembur as Jyoshna Kadam, who is, in fact, her elder sister,” said an officer of the Unit 10 of the crime branch, requesting anonymity. “We suspect Sawant had an affair with Jyoshna’s husband, Minish, and the duo fled from Sawantwadi in Ratnagiri district to Mumbai.”

Using Jyoshna’s documents, Sawant got a job with a broadband service provider at Chandivli, the police said.

The police also arrested two men and two women from Chembur for allegedly kidnapping her. “Sawant’s mother Prabhavati, Jyoshna, cousin Vishwas Palkar and his friend Nitin Pathare had abducted her on Tuesday,” the officer said.

On Tuesday evening, Sawant’s colleague Saroj filed a kidnapping case with the Powai police. Saroj claimed that when she and Sawant, whom she knew as Kadam, were walking towards a bus stop near Saki Vihar Road, three unidentified men pushed her in a red Tavera and drove off.
