Land use survey scrutiny: Many errors in malad

Nearly 30 acres of pristine mudflats tagged as a slum cluster and an open space plot shown as vacant land are some of the 48 errors unearthed by citizens and experts in P-North ward, which comprises rapidly developing suburbs of Malad (West) and Malad (East).

Nearly 30 acres of pristine mudflats tagged as a slum cluster and an open space plot shown as vacant land are some of the 48 errors unearthed by citizens and experts in P-North ward, which comprises rapidly developing suburbs of Malad (West) and Malad (East).

The study was conducted by non-profit YUVA with the help of locals to scrutinse the existing land use (ELU) survey conducted recently by BMC. If this flawed ELU goes through, civic amenities and open spaces, which are rightfully yours, will be lost.

According to the study, amenities like civic dispensaries and welfare centres, which were built on amenity plots by developers, have been labelled as residential, which leaves them open to manipulation by private builders.
