Lifeguards foil teen’s suicide bid at Juhu

At 7.10 pm on Thursday, lifeguards rescued 16-year-old Firdaus Sayed Faryad, a resident of Chembur who had come to Juhu beach to commit suicide after she failed in her SSC examinations.

“When we saw her we suspected something was wrong because she seemed very upset and was alone,” said Fire Officer Rajesh Shinde.

“She started walking straight towards the sea and deep into it. We caught hold of her after which she told us why she was taking such a drastic step.”
