Vijay Gupta, 35, who suffered severe head injuries, died while undergoing treatment at a private hospital. The police have registered a case of accidental death.

At 1.30am, during the shoot of actor Paresh Rawal’s forthcoming serial Tujhse Lagan Laagi, Gupta, was standing on the edge of a helipad when he lost his balance and fell.

Gupta, who lived in Dahisar with his wife and three children, had been working as a lightman for a decade. “He was taken to a private hospital nearby. He was declared dead while undergoing treatment,” said his cousin, Rajkumar Gupta. “We do not suspect any foul play. Rawal on learning about the incident said he would provide aid to Vijay’s family.”

“A post-mortem was conducted at Bhagwati Hospital. We are conducting further inquiries,” said Laxman Tonpe, senior inspector of the Aarey sub police station.
