The cyber wing of the Mumbai police comprises the cyber police station at Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC) – for crimes in the suburbs - and the cyber crime investigation cell (CCIC) at the commissioner’s office located near Crawford market for offences in south Mumbai.

An officer from the cell requesting anonymity, said, “It is definitely helpful if the local police can solve certain cases. However, we also have to investigate the matter. The officer pointed out that the local police investigations into cyber crimes have certain limitations. “In case it is a crime spread across different countries, the local police is usually clueless.”
