The budget session of the Maharashtra legislature will start on March 9 and the state budget will be presented by finance minister Sudhir Mungantiwar on March 18.

The decision was taken in the meeting of Business Advisory Committee (BAC) of the state legislature on Tuesday.

Just like the BJP government at the Centre, the state government too does not have majority in the upper house of the legislature and as such, Fadnavis government will have to bank on the divide within the opposition to push through its business in the legislative council.

State parliamentary affairs minister Girish Bapat said the BAC has decided to continue the business of both the Houses for five weeks till April 17. The BCAC is expected to meet again on April 7 to decide how long the session should continue.
