Maharashtra: NCP’s Sharad Pawar takes a dig at Modi

Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) chief Sharad Pawar on Tuesday took a dig at the Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his ‘Congress Mukt Bharat’ campaign. Pawar said a sensible politician will not make such comment.

“We too had differences with the Congress over certain issues. However, the Congress is built by leaders who played a crucial role in our country’s freedom struggle. So Modi’s comment on eliminating Congress from India is uncalled for. A sensible politician would not have made such a comment,” Pawar said, while campaigning for Congress candidate Narayan Rane in Bandra (East).

He added that people are feeling cheated as the BJP government has failed to fulfil promises it had made before the elections.

Moreover, without naming Shiv Sena president Uddhav Thackeray, Pawar ridiculed him for his loose grip over the party and the state government.

“During Balasaheb’s time, the Shiv Sena was known as a party of brave people. (Revenue minister) Khadse said that nuclear plan will be built at Jaitapur. Had Balasaheb been alive, he would not have allowed this,” said Pawar.

To this Fadnavis replied, Rane will be defeated by his own party men.
