Public prosecutor PA Pol said that the Economic Offences Wing had arrested the main accused, and his accounts had been frozen, though it did not disclose the accused name.

A division bench of justice DD Sinha and justice VK Tahilramani however said that the state should give results sooner, and sought to know how many accused had been arrested so far, and if the investigation needed to be transferred to another agency.

“You should also make people aware by putting up posters and listing websites that are operating fraudulently,” justice Sinha added.

Pol assured that a drive to educate people was being initiated.

Former director of Forensics Science and Laboratory (FSL), Dr Rukmini Krishnamurthy, intervened in the case and told the court that she was preparing details for initiating public awareness and was in talks with the police authorities regarding this issue. The court has granted her time to finalise her draft and present it to the authorities within two weeks.

HC had held that it was to the larger interest of the society to bring the offenders to book.
