A 42-year-old Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) activist was attacked with a chopper by his accountant on Saturday after the former allegedly razed his shop at a Slum Rehabilitation Authority (SRA) site in Bhandup and refused to allot him a room in the building.
The victim has been identified as Ashok Singh, while the accused has been identified as Shailesh Kamerkar.
According to the police, the incident took place at around 8.30am. The police said that Singh was developing a building under SRA scheme in Bhandup. Kamerkar had a small shop at the site, which was demolished for the construction and Singh promised him a room in the SRA building.

Kamerkar requested Singh to allot him a room in the building as his shop had been demolished from the same place. But Singh said that he was not entitled for any room in the proposed SRA building.
This enraged Kamerkar who decided to take revenge and attacked Singh with a chopper on his head and ankle,” said S Nadgauda, senior police inspector of Bhandup police station.
Locals who witnessed the incident informed the police and rushed Singh to a local hospital. Kamerkar fled from the spot but was arrested later in the day.
Kamerkar has been booked under sections 452 (house-trespass after preparation for hurt or assault) and 307 (attempt to murder) of the IPC.
