Investigators looking for clues in the CCTV footage obtained from the July 13 blast sites may have discovered a new suspect. "The footage shows an unidentified man running away after the blasts at Opera House," a source said. "He was in the area and his movements were very suspicious."

A senior police officer said the sketch of the suspect would be given to a core group of investigators to ensure that it isn't leaked to the media.

"We will share it with other agencies only if required. It's primarily for informers," the officer said on condition of anonymity, as he is not authorised to speak to media.

The officer said a local firm that did digital work for Hollywood movies had enhanced the quality of the footage. "They can do wonders with the footage available. They have been of great help," he said, hinting that the new suspect may be a key player in the attack.

Another officer said the police was worried that the perpetrators may be encouraged to carry out more attacks after their success in Mumbai.

"It was not operated remotely. It is likely that the bombs were timed to go off simultaneously," said an officer, adding that the batteries and the timer were yet to be located.

Investigators also claimed that the rain had washed away a few of the important debris that could be used as forensic evidence.
