The ANC officials claimed that youngsters are more inclined towards using ganja (marijuana) as it is one of the cheapest drugs and is easily available. The next most consumed drug is charas (hash).

The ANC has registered over 50 cases of consumption of charas and ganja in past one week.
According to officials, 10gm ganja costs between Rs30 and Rs40. On the other hand, charas costs Rs 600-1,200, whereas pure cocaine costs around Rs 60,000.
V Badade, inspector of ANC’s Worli unit, said, “Most of the raids by the anti-narcotics wing include seizing of ganja consignments and the accused are generally youngsters.” Sociologist Nandini Sardesai said students doing drugs was not new. “ But it needs to be curbed. The youngsters are usually introduced to drugs during parties or near colleges. The college managements deal with the culprits strictly. The police should keep authorities in loop about raids.”
