Shiv Sena executive president Uddhav Thackeray, Mayor Shraddha Jadhav and Municipal Commissioner Swadheen Kshatriya took an aerial view of the open nullahs in the eastern and western suburbs, on Saturday.

It was the first ever helicopter inspection of nullahs in the municipal corporation’s history. Thackeray observed that slumdwellers have been throwing garbage into the open drains.
He appealed to the people that they should cooperate with the municipal body.
“Many illegal slums have mushroomed along the nullahs. They should be demolished and the residents should be rehabilitated in legal structures at other locations,” Jadhav said.
On Wednesday, Thackeray visited eight nullah sites in the western suburbs and was upset with progress on the desilting work.
He said if the city faced a flood-like situation because of Mithi river the government should be blamed. He also visited eastern suburb drains on Friday to check on the desilting work.
