MBA aspirants want revaluation of MAH-CET results

After the directorate of technical education (DTE) declared the results for the common entrance test (MAH-CET) on Wednesday night, a group of students met officials on Thursday demanding revaluation of results.

The online entrance test for admission to state B-schools was held in four slots on March 14 and 15, with 200 questions in each session for 200 marks. More than 57,000 candidates took the exam.

After complaints by students and report in HT about glitches during the first slot, the DTE had formed an expert committee to address the issue and deleted incorrect questions.

“It is unfortunate that because of faulty normalisation method, thousands of students who sat for the exam in the first slot have scored less marks. There are just 300-400 seats available at top management colleges in the city and nearly 60,000 students are aspiring for them. The DTE should conduct a revaluation to get fair results,” said Virendarsingh Patil, a candidate who gave the exam in the first slot.

“We had written about to state higher education minister Vinod Tawde and the chief minister before the results were announced. In his reply, Tawde referred the matter to the principal secretary of his department. We hope to get justice from the minister’s office,” said Patil.

While a few students are planning to file an RTI to know about the method used for normalisation of marks, some are planning to move court.

According to the result analysis issued on the DTE website, five candidates who topped the online test scored 170 marks.

SK Mahajan, director, DTE, said the marks cannot be reviewed. “We have uploaded a file on the website describing how the marks were calculated. The candidates can take a look at it for clarity,” he said.
