Residents of Golibar, who consented to Shivalik Ventures as their developer, launched a rally outside the slum rehabilitation authority building on Thursday, claiming that Patkar’s demand is slowing their rehabilitation.

“The rehabilitation of all those who have vacated their houses is at stake for a few people opposing demolition. Patkar is supporting the few and not the majority,” said Shubhangini Shinde, chief promoter, Ganeshkripa society.

Patkar had gone on an indefinite hunger strike demanding the formation of an inquiry committee into the case, which was accepted by the government.

Patkar rubbished the allegations saying, “There are 126 families who stayed back even after their houses were demolished. Many had to leave, as they had no option. Nearly 12,000 people are supporting us.”

Patkar was speaking at Dadar where she had come to support an indefinite hunger strike by five residents of Lokmanya Nagar including an 82-year-old lady alleging bogus consent for redevelopment of their building.

Referring to Ramdev's fast, Patkar said, “Does one need to arrive in chartered planes and make arrangements for thousands, for the government to notice their problems?”
