Minors’ gangrape case: Two arrested

The CST Government Railway Police (GRP), on late Friday, arrested two persons in connection with the kidnapping and gang rape of three Bangladeshi minor girls. The police said the arrests were made in Diva in Thane district and that the accused are handlers, who took the girls to various locations, where they were forced into prostitution.

The officials added that at least five more arrests are likely to be made.

“The girls were taken to several stations [by police] when they identified the Diva station and the area around it. When they led us to a house there, we found two persons who claimed to be husband and wife, natives of West Bengal. The duo was arrested,” said Somnath Tambe, inspector of CST GRP. The arrested accused have been remanded in police custody for 11 days, and three teams have been specially constituted to take the victims to several railway stations, lodges and other places to help identify where they were sexually abused.

The vaginal swabs of the three minors were sent for analysis on Saturday.
