MMS students stunned by varsity’s error

The marksheets of around 15,000 students pursuing Masters in Management Studies (MMS) from University of Mumbai (MU) have their bachelor’s degree grade scale printed on the on their postgraduate degree, making it difficult for students to convince employers about their correct grades.

With the introduction of the credit system, alphabetical grades are given for every subject.

“This error has resulted in faulty percentage calculations. The employers though I had forged my mark sheet,” said a student who requested anonymity.
“The carelessness of the university is costing students jobs, not to mention mental agony,” said university senate member Sanjay Vairal.

However, controller of examination, Dinesh Bhonde said “The format used for printing undergraduate degree mark sheets was used for printing the MMS sheets by mistake. However, in order to ensure that no one has to suffer we will issue a notification in a few days carrying the corrected grade scale.

University senate members criticised the new grading system. “The credit system has been complicated by MU unnecessarily,” said Vairal.
