Narendra Dhuri, a Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) candidate for civic polls, was feared kidnapped on Monday, a day before filing nomination papers. Though he returned on Tuesday, Dhuri missed the deadline to file the nomination.

Ward number 183 (Matunga Workshop) is significant with former mayor Milind Vaidya also in the poll fray. Close aides claim, Dhuri was kidnapped by unidentified persons and taken to Navi Mumbai. There, the MNS was beaten unconscious. When he finally came to his senses, Dhuri escaped and returned home on Tuesday evening.
Local MNS Legislator Nitin Sardesai said he was still sourcing details. “Dhuri did not file his nomination and I am informed that he is admitted at Hinduja hospital,” Sardesai said. The MNS, meanwhile, nominated Manish Chavan to fill the form.
