MNS students' wing protests against varsity for withholding TYBCom results

Protesting against the Mumbai University for withholding the results of around 1,800 third-year Bachelor of Commerce (TYBCom), the students' wing of the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) allegedly vandalised its property on Friday morning.

Results of around 1,800 TYBCom students have been withheld owing to the errors made by them in entering the seat numbers or mistakes in the OMR sheet.

Earlier this week, activists from the Akhil Bhartiya Vidyarthi Parishad were taken into custody for destroying property at the university's Fort campus.

"They broke the door of the examination house. This is no way to address any issue," said Vilas Shinde, controller of examinations.

"We will not tolerate this from any organisation. We were forced to call the police," he added.

Sainath Durge, an MNS activist, said that the police resorted to lathicharge. The police, however, denied it.

Vinayak Sawade, senior police inspector, Bandra-Kurla Complex police station, said: "There was no lathicharge. The MNS students' wing activists were protesting as their TYBCom results were not displayed and they were not given any explanation for the delay."
