A senior crime branch official, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, said the boy came to the Unit I crime branch at Crawford Market and handed over the phone, claiming it had been given to him by Vora a month ago for safekeeping. He said he decided to surrender the phone after he came to know of Vora’s arrest and the crime branch hunt for her phones.

While the cell phone was immediately sent to the forensic science laboratory for data retrieval, the boy’s statement is being recorded, the officer said, refusing to disclose the boy’s identity.

Late Wednesday night, a man came to the crime branch and handed over a Galaxy Tab note pad that he claimed was given to him by Vora for safekeeping.

A senior crime branch official said the man claimed to be a friend of Vora and the note pad had been given to him a few days prior to her arrest.

The crime branch will be sending it to the forensic science laboratory for data retrieval and are questioning the man.

While one phone was recovered from Vora during her arrest, three more phones used by her were surrendered before the court by one of her acquaintances, Murtuza Mustafa Diwan, last week.

That was followed by the surrender of another cell phone by a Surat housewife who claimed to be Vora’s friend.

Meanwhile, crime branch sources claimed during her confrontation with co-accused, Rajan aide Paulson Joseph, the latter disclosed her involvement in the murder conspiracy.

The crime branch is now probing the extent of her involvement.
