Multiplex owners agree to lower Marathi films' ticket rates

Multiplex owners in the city today agreed to implement Shiv Sena's demand of lowering rates of Marathi movies within 15 days after having a meeting with the party's executive president Uddhav Thackeray.

Multiplex owners in the city today agreed to implement Shiv Sena's demand of lowering rates of Marathi movies within 15 days after having a meeting with the party's executive president Uddhav Thackeray.

The members of the Multiplex Owners' Association met Uddhav to discuss over the demand. Sena had agitated two days ago for the same issue.

"The ticket rates for Marathi films should not be exorbitant and Marathi people should afford to see them. The Association members have agreed to lower the rates," Uddhav told reporters after the meeting.

The idea is that people should watch Marathi movies and the film industry should sustain, Uddhav said.

General secretary of the Association Arwind Chaphalkar said the members will review the demand and reduce the rates within 15 days.

Shiv Sainiks had visited Inox, Metro, Sterling cinemas in South Mumbai a day after Uddhav asked multiplex owners to make ticket rates affordable to Marathi speaking people.
