The Thane police arrested five doctors from the Chhatrapati Shivaji Hospital for ragging students from the Rajiv Gandhi Medical College, the police said.

Mangesh Rane (25), Acchut Narote (23), Pabhakar Talawade (25), Sailesh Gada (23) and Kisran Nashte (27) have been arrested, while another accused named Sharad Patil is still at large, the police said.
Police inspector Prakash Nilewad of the Kalwa police station said those arrested have been charged under the Maharashtra Prohibition of Ragging Act.
Allegedly, the six doctors called seven medical students into their rooms on Thursday night, asked them to strip in front of them and dance. While six medical students danced, one of them who refused to do so was beaten up badly and also attacked with blades, a complaint by the victim Harish Chowdhary (19) said.
Harish informed the police that he feared for his life and would quit Thane to return to his home state to pursue his education.
