The seats, added after a year’s gap, will be available for online and offline admissions. While two new junior colleges are located in south Mumbai, the rest are in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region.

“We have approved new colleges so that there is no dearth of seats for Class 11 aspirants. The seats for online admissions will rise further after colleges surrender seats vacant at the end of the offline admission,” said MB Kamble, assistant deputy director of education, Mumbai.

The additional seats have driven up the intake capacity in the FYJC admission process to 2.72 lakh from 2.65 lakh last year.
