A five-year-old girl was allegedly kidnapped by an autorickshaw driver and raped in Aarey Colony on Sunday night. The girl, who is in a serious condition, is recuperating at a government hospital. The driver is absconding.
The police said around 10pm on Sunday, the survivor’s parents sent her to buy a packet of milk from a shop opposite their house in Sahar, Andheri (East). The girl was allegedly approached by the autorickshaw driver, when she was walking towards the shop.
The police said he asked her to get into the autorickshaw. When the survivor refused, the driver allegedly threatened her with a knife. The police said he then made the girl forcibly sit on his lap and drove to Aarey Colony.
The driver allegedly found a secluded spot, where he raped her and drove away. A crime branch constable, who was passing by, saw the girl crying and took her to the hospital.
The police are scanning the CCTV footage obtained from at least 10 spots between Sahar and Aarey Colony for clues and are also on the lookout for the driver.
