Mumbai: HSC results to be out by end of May

Last year, the results were announced on May 25. “I have taken stock of the progress on the assessment of answersheets. Despite the time lost during the boycott, the assessment is going smoothly. If all goes as per the plan, the results will be announced before the end of May,” Darda said.

The assessment of papers was lagging behind by more than 20 days, as nearly 55,000 college teachers had boycotted the evaluation of answersheets from February 21 to March 13.

Moreover, the assessment of the SSC answersheets, too, has been largely unaffected, despite 12,000 to 15,000 unaided schoolteachers boycotting the exams and evaluation.

“Only a handful of SSC teachers had participated in the strike. So, it did not have an impact on paper correction,” said Sarjerao Jadhav, chairperson, Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education.

“During admissions to medical and engineering colleges, the HSC scores are considered. The students are denied admission if they do not have the original marksheets,” said Shikhar Tajane, who took the exam from the science stream in February.

The Council for Indian School Certificate Examination that conducts the ICSE and ISC exams will declare their results by the third week of May, said Gerry Arathoon, chief executive and secretary of the council.
