A man and his 10-year-old son were killed when a compound wall of an under-construction building collapsed on a nearby shanty in Dahisar (East) on Sunday.

Three fire engines, one rescue van and two ambulances were rushed to the spot. The wall of the SRA building at SN Dube Road, gave way at 7.45 am crushing Chandrakant Khandagre, 45, and Tejas Khandagre who were sleeping inside.
They were brought dead to Shatabdi municipal general hospital.
“Two victims were brought to the hospital at 10am. However, both were declared dead on admission,” said the medical superintendent of Shatabdi Hospital.
Khandagre, is survived by his wife and three daughters, who escaped unhurt in the incident.
A Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) official said many structures had come up in the open space near the building, and the victims’ shanty was very close to the compound wall.
A large portion of the wall had directly collapsed on the shanty crushing it.
Furious locals said it was the load of construction material and the machines dumped near the under-construction compound wall which led to its collapse.
Another slab collapse was reported in Qureshi Nagar, Kurla (East) on Sunday. No injuries were reported in the incident.
