Mumbai: Mhada lottery for 1,063 houses to be held on Sunday

Around 1.26 lakh applicants will know if they have won an apartment from among the 1,063 up for grabs in the Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority (Mhada) lottery to be conducted on Sunday.

Around 1.26 lakh applicants will know if they have won an apartment from among the 1,063 up for grabs in the Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority (Mhada) lottery to be conducted on Sunday. This effectively means that there are 118 applicants per flat. The flats are in the range of Rs 18.14 lakh to Rs 46.61 lakh and are located at Mulund, Sion, Mankhurd, Malad and Goregaon.

Mhada has appointed a three-member committee to oversee the process scheduled to be held at Rangsharda Hall at Bandra. Hemant Patil, public relations officer, Mhada, said the process will be conducted in a transparent manner.

The lottery will begin at 10am and applicants will be allowed into the hall on a first-come-first-served basis. Owing to the limited capacity of the hall, Mhada has also made arrangements to seat people on the playground in front of the hall. It has also installed giant screens to relay the proceedings from the hall.
