Mumbai: Obscene comments posted on social media against govt officer

An officer from the rural development department in Mantralaya has registered a complaint with the Azad Maidan police station, alleging that a public page has been created on a social networking site, where obscene comments about her have been posted. The 41-year-officer said someone has been deliberately trying to defame her.

According to the police, the complainant approached them with her colleagues to register a complaint last week. In her complaint she stated she came to know of the page recently and it has many followers.

The cops are trying to look for the accused with the help of the BKC cyber police by tracing the internet protocol address of the system used to create the page.

“A person deliberately wrote offensive things about the complainant. He abused her, made lewd comments and also posted a picture of her,” an officer from the Azad Maidan police station said.

The person who posted offensive comments probably created a bogus account to do this, the officer added.

Another officer said a few weeks ago, a group of people protested against the department over some demands. It is possible that one of them was behind this.
