An alert was sounded across the city on Wednesday night following the serial explosion of low intensity bombs in Pune.

A top Mumbai police official told HT that though the force has been asked to remain on the alert following the Pune blasts, “there will be no panic reaction”.
He said the Mumbai police had already laid down a standard operating procedure (SOP) for deciding the plan of action following a crisis situation in the neighbouring cities.
However, he said, as a precautionary measure, checking of vehicles has been stepped up at all five entry/exit points of the city while nakabandis have been ordered on all major roads.
Combing of hotels and lodgings will continue for suspicious inmates and the reserve police contingents have been informed to be ready.
“We have declared a high-alert in Maharashtra and the ATS has been rushed to Pune to conduct the investigation. The local police is has got some CCTV footage of the spots,” said Sanjiv Dayal, DG police, Maharashtra.
