The mishap is the second in as many days. On Monday, an old rake derailed between Masjid and Chhattrapati Shivaji Terminus on the harbour line.
No casualty has been reported, said Sharat Chandrayan, chief public relations officer, Western Railway. The train from Borivili to Churchgate derailed around 11am between Andheri and Vile Parle stations.
A team of engineers and rescue officials have reached the spot to restore the services, said Chandrayan, adding an inquiry is underway.
