Schools and colleges in Mumbai and neighbouring Thane would remain closed in view of reports that cyclone 'Phyan' would strike the coast on Wednesday, Maharashtra Chief Minister Ashok chavan said in Mumbai.

Chavan made the announcement in the Legislative Assembly.
Meanwhile, Chief Secretary Johny Joseph reviewed the situation and preparedness to deal with the cyclone, at a meeting of the Disaster Management Cell in Mumbai.
