Navi Mumbai once again finds itself at the centre of an investigation into an e-mail sent by a terror outfit. On Tuesday, such a mail was sent to media organisations after the blast at Varanasi. An unsecured wi-fi connection in Navi Mumbai was hacked into for this.

The modus operandi was similar to the one used in July 2008 when American Kenneth Haywood’s connection was hacked into and a threatening e-mail sent after the Ahmedabad serial blasts. Haywood used to live on Palm Beach Road in Navi Mumbai.
Tuesday’s e-mail was traced to a wi-fi connection belonging to brothers Nikhil, 28, and Akhil Talreja, 26, who live in Vashi. Their wi-fi connection had been hacked into. Akhil told HT, “I urge everyone to ensure that their net connections are secure.”
