NCC cadets to promote national integration

For 656 students belonging to the National Cadet Corps (NCC) from across the country, Diwali celebrations this year will include an exchange of cultures to promote national integration. Assembled at Acharya College, Chembur, these cadets are attending the ‘National Integration Camp’, which began on Tuesday. The camp is organised every year in different parts of the country.

This year, the Maharashtra Directorate of the NCC has organised the12-day camp for the student cadets from the 17 NCC directorates. “We will wear traditional clothes, exchange food from our state and show our friends how we celebrate Diwali,” said Anisha Kumari, 19, from Bihar.

“There are various talks on national integration everyday. We highlight the history of India and the road to the future that we have to pave,” added colonel MK Joshi, group commander of Mumbai (A) Group Maharashtra Directorate. Along with the training, cadets will also participate for various cultural competitions during the camp.

“National Integration Presentation is a special competition where cadets paint a brief picture of their state,” said lieutenant Malini Sharma, associate NCC Officer of 8 Maharashtra Girls’ Battalion.
