NCP complains against Sena to poll panel

Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) on Thursday filed a complaint with the state election commission against the Shiv Sena for using the mayor’s bungalow on Wednesday night to hold a party meeting, where party executive president Uddhav Thackeray interacted with rebels and other disgruntled party workers.

NCP city chief Narendra Verma said: “The mayor’s bungalow is an official residence and cannot be used to host internal party meetings when the code of conduct is enforced.” He said the meeting was held between 8pm and 11.30pm.

The NCP has an acknowledgement receipt of the complaint. However, state election commissioner Neela Satyanarayan said: “I have not received any such complaint. I have been busy for the last two days sorting out other issues.”

Sources in the Sena said only the garden in the bungalow premises was used for the meeting.
