A day after police booked him for allegedly raping a girl, NCP on Saturday suspended its Pachora MLA Dilip Wagh from the party and asked the Maharashtra government to conduct an "in-depth" inquiry into the incident.

Wagh, the MLA from Pachora in Jalgaon district, was booked by the Sarkarwada police in Nashik district on Friday for allegedly raping the 20-year-old girl.
"Maharashtra NCP President Madhukar Pichad suspended the MLA from the party and has asked the government to conduct an in-depth inquiry into the case," party spokesperson Madan Bafna said.
Police registered a case after the victim lodged a complaint on Thursday night.
According to the complaint, Wagh asked the Aurangabad-based girl to come to Nashik on Thursday on the pretext of arranging her a job and allegedly raped her at a guest house here, the police said.
The MLA's assistant Mahesh Mali has also been booked.
