The neighbour of a 16-year-old girl, who was found to be two months pregnant, was arrested for allegedly raping her on Sunday.

The victim was recently admitted to VN Desai Hospital as she started feeling unwell. During the treatment, doctors diagnosed that she was pregnant and informed the police.
The girl's parents lodged a complaint and the police arrested the boy. The victim is a resident of Vile Parle (East) and hence the airport police first registered a rape case, which was later transferred to the Juhu police as the offence took place in their jurisdiction.
“We have arrested the boy but are waiting for his birth certificate to ascertain his age. We will present him before the court on Monday and request a DNA examination,” said Deepak Katkade, senior inspector.
Police said the victim used to live in a slum area in Juhu earlier. The girl's mother, who works as domestic help, said that her daughter informed her that she was raped by an unidentified person when they lived in Juhu.
A month back the victim and her mother shifted down to a slum area near the domestic airport, said the police.
