The new industrial policy promises to create at least 21 lakh jobs in the state, said industries minister Narayan Rane in the legislative council on Thursday.

The proposed policy would provide a boost to large-scale investment. "We expect to get investment approximately worth Rs5.50 lakh crore and create at least 21 lakh jobs," said Rane.
The new industrial policy aims at retaining the state's premier position in both foreign direct investments (FDI) and domestic investments and providing an impetus to the manufacturing and service industry. It plans to offer sops to sick units and complete the construction of infrastructure before the work on industrial belts begins.
The opposition parties are, however, not amused with Rane's management of the ministry. "Our industries minister is non-productive," said Sena leader Diwakar Raote.
Another Sena member Arvind Sawant said the industry ministry has failed in generating employment.
