The Bombay High Court on Saturday rejected the bail application of unemployed former BPO worker Aquino Martis (22), who allegedly stabbed his girlfriend to death at Mira Road in January.

“Let him face trial,” said Justice V.M.Kanade, while rejecting the bail application.
On January 28, Aquino allegedly stabbed Paloma Fernandes when she was returning home from work.
Fernandes, who hailed from Goa, worked at a call centre in Malad.
She and Martis were residents of adjacent buildings at Rashmi Hetal Cooperative Society, Beverly Park.
Martis who was waiting with a knife near the staircase rushed towards Fernandes, stabbing her in the chest. He then stabbed himself. Both were rushed to hospital, but Fernandes was declared dead on arrival.
Among the witnesses were the two building watchmen who claimed they saw Martis stabbing Fernandes — one is a complainant in the case.
On July 3, the Thane additional sessions judge too had rejected his bail plea.
