‘No Deal Day’ on December 11

They have come up with a “No Deal Day” to protest against the irregularities in the realty business in Mumbai.

Consumer service firm Purpleswarms employees, Sailaja Mannava, Nikunj Bubna and Pramod Sharma have selected December 11 as the “No Deal Day”. They want more people to not sign any property deal on that day. They are also approaching colleges and corporates to support the campaign.

“We were surprised to see so many violations in procedures and the practices followed in realty industry. We thought if we have a regulatory body, the industry will follow the set of rules when it comes to floor space, carpet area, built-up area, price per sq ft and so on,” said Mannava.

They have got a good response on their Facebook page and around 8,000 people have visited the “No Deal Day” page on their website.

However, the builders don’t seem to be moved by this. “The one who needs property may avoid the deal for one day, but ultimately the deal may take place on the other day so it won’t affect any one,” said estate agent Dilip Fifadra.

The trio plans to meet Sunil Mantri, president, Maharashtra Chamber of Housing and Industry after the campaign.

“For people like us who have just started earning, buying a flat in Mumbai is like a dream coming true,” said Rahul Patel, advertising professional.

“We know it may not do wonders in a day but for us it will be successful when the concerned parties are ready to sit across and discuss the issue,” said Bubna.
