No headway, but cops unfazed

They have still not been able to locate the source of the drugs which were allegedly found in the premises of the hotel when the party was raided.

A total of 110 grams of cocaine and 64 grams of charas were found at the venue, according to the police.

When questioned whether investigations into the source of the drugs would suffer now that

Handa had been granted bail, Vishwas Nangre Patil, the IPS officer under whom the raid was conducted, said that Handa had been arrested for permitting the consumption of drugs in his premises.

“It is the people who consumed the drugs at the party who will lead us to those who supplied them. We are waiting for the results of the blood and urine samples of the revellers,” he said.

A total of 182 samples–91 blood samples and 91 urine samples–were sent to the Maharashtra Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL). An official from FSL said the reports should be ready by next weekend.

Patil said: “The real interrogation will begin once those who took the drugs are found. We will question them and check their call records to find out who they spoke to before the party.”

So far the police have arrested only Handa; the future course of action hinge on the result of the tests.

In addition to the consumption of drugs, the police have also asked FSL to give them a report about those who consumed alcohol.

The police had earlier said that since none of the revellers had a valid alcohol permit, they would also be booked under relevant sections of the Bombay Prohibition Act.

A squad formed by Patil had raided a sundown party at the terrace of the Oakwood Premier hotel at Juhu.
