No leads, CM takes stock

Dey, a veteran crime journalist and Mid-Day’s Editor (special investigations) was gunned down by four unidentified motorcycle-borne assailants at Powai on Sunday afternoon.

“I have taken stock of the progress of investigations on the case. We have even put in place special police squads and asked them to explore all angles possible. Till now there are no definite clues, but we are expecting some breakthrough soon,” Chavan said after the meeting.

He later in the evening, Home minister RR Patil met the slain journalist’s family at his residence at Ghatkopar.

“I have assured the family that we will nab the culprits soon. We have also offered all the required security for Dey’s family,” said Patil.

Sources in the home department said Patil has put huge pressure on the police department to crack the case.
