Despite incidents of crime in their neighbourhood involving domestic help, citizens of areas like Nagpada and Vile Parle have not stepped out to get their house-help registered.

Recently, a domestic help in Nagpada flung a toddler she was babysitting from the fourth floor, while a Vile Parle resident was assaulted and robbed of cash and valuables worth Rs 1.5 lakh by two men she had hired just three days earlier.

Of the five regions in the city, residents of central Mumbai seem to be most vigilant with 491 people approaching the police for registration of their servants. A close second is south Mumbai, with 428 registrations. The western region has 333 registrations while the north and eastern suburbs have 49 and 4 domestic help registered, respectively.
