The third attempt to move the 175-metre-long stranded cargo ship, MV Wisdom, is scheduled to be carried out on July 3, but officials said there could be a further delay as the tug machine’s engine problem has not yet been sorted out.

The two attempts to move the 9,000-tonne cargo vessel, on June 17 and 18, failed. While on June 17 the operation got stalled as the rope wrenching the ship broke, on June 18, it was called off after the lead tug developed trouble in its engine. The second time, the ship had moved a few inches.
“The operation will be conducted when the opportunity is right. We have to wait for a high high tide to carry out the operations,” said SB Agnihotri, director general of shipping. July 3 is expected to be one such day. SMIT Salvage, an international firm with expertise in such operations, is conducting the operation.
