Haveliwala rammed her SUV into six people, killing two, including a policeman, on January 29.

“Law prevents the police from arresting a woman accused before sunrise and after sunset but Haveliwala was arrested at the wee hours”, said her lawyer Renuka Lakshmeshwar.

She contested the prosecution’s claim that Haveliwala could abscond if released on bail. The matter is likely to come up in court on Wednesday.
